After congressional Republicans forced the U.S. Senate to take its first vote on repealing the Affordable Care Act (ACA) on July 26, Our Lives on the Line is airing a powerful, new testimonial ad telling the story of a Nevada mother who is worried that Senator Dean Heller’s vote for repealing the ACA could endanger health care for her son who is a cancer survivor. The six-figure television ad buy highlights the threat all Nevadan families face if Sen. Heller votes in favor of full health care repeal.
The ad also coincides with the launch of the Drive for Our Lives bus tour, a coast-to-coast campaign to lift up the voices of the millions of people whose health care is at risk hold elected officials accountable for their votes to repeal the ACA, that will stop in Reno on July 31st and Las Vegas on August 1st.
In the ad, Brandi discusses her son Cooper’s battle with cancer after he was diagnosed with Leukemia at just six-years-old. Under the ACA, the family’s medical bills and the cost of Cooper’s health care was covered so that he never faced a lifetime limit.
“If this law gets repealed, my son is going to constantly be worrying about whether or not he can get health care protection in the future,” Brandi said in the ad. “Will he be able to get insurance with the preexisting condition? Senator Heller needs to know that my son’s life is in his hands. Senator Heller, please keep your promise. Save my son’s health care.”
The advertisement, which will air across the state, will also be promoted on social media alongside other powerful testimonials from Nevadan families. The video can be viewed here and a transcript of the ad is included below.
